The Lenovo ThinkPad T490s is the direct successor to the T480s — same business-travel positioning, same legendary ThinkPad keyboard, but with the slightly newer Intel Core i7-8665U and the small chassis refinements Lenovo introduced between generations. For users who want a T-series ultrabook with a tiny generational advantage over the T480s, this is the pick.
The T490s vs T480s decision
Both are excellent. The T490s introduced a slightly tweaked chassis, the i7-8665U (a small clock-speed update over the 8650U), and the kind of incremental updates Lenovo makes when iterating a successful platform rather than replacing it. The 13.9-inch matte display is unchanged, the keyboard is unchanged in quality, and the same magnesium-reinforced lid construction carries over. This is the right choice if you want the most recent T-s before stepping up to a T14s on more modern silicon.

Each T490s is cleaned, inspected and functionally tested in our Belgian workshop before shipping with a clean Windows installation.
